From Withdrawn to STANDOUT!!

Have the Confidence to Navigate the Hallways of Life.

When Briton joined my academy he was withdrawn, extremely quite and not sure how to approach his instructors or classmates. In the two years I've known Briton I've seen him go from, picked on, quite kid to an outgoing-taco costume wearing, fun loving, young man.  His skill level has corresponded with his attitude and has done nothing but improve every day he is present.

Confidence is EVERYTHING for a young man. Learning what his own body is capable of and having a dedicated group of instructors gave him the confidence he needed to navigate the busy hallways of high school and the interstate of life.

Here's a bit about a troubled but, determined young man that re-invented himself through Jiu Jitsu. Bullying and depression were not going to hold him down. Read his story as told by his mother!

Dedicated

"Briton started doing Jiu Jitsu about four years ago. He enjoyed Jiu Jitsu but his demeanor was changing, he was given a demeaning nickname of which he was embarrassed, but felt he couldn't do anything about. Shortly after starting he was in a tournament that he was not prepared for. He lost to someone who was far more advanced and experienced, he was injured and his self confidence had taken another hit. He stuck with it, for two years at that school."

"After losing his great grandfather and being stuck in the house for weeks he and his dad decided they would check out a different academy for Jiu Jitsu before going back to the other place. After hearing many good things about Vagabond, we decided to check it out. Professor Clay welcomed them with open arms and explained his vision for his students, his philosophy on teaching and his feelings and experiences with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He invited them to stay and watch or to go ahead and try a class. They did."

"We ended up staying. Professor Clay motivated Briton in a completely different way, he treats each and every student with respect, he is uplifting and uses positive reinforcement. He has patience and welcomes questions. He truly enjoys seeing his students excel and progress. Professor Clay creates an environment within his academy that makes his students eager to learn regardless of their skill level, how long they have been practicing or their age."

"The changes in Briton were almost immediate. He was gaining self confidence, his technique was improving and his knowledge in his chosen sport was expanding. He was encouraged in such a way that changed his entire outlook."

"His first competition under Vagabond was amazing, he excelled against the competition and got his first true win. He earned it in every way. He was inspired, excited and motivated. He has only continued to get better in the two years he has been with Vagabond. He is now a blue belt, a world champion and part of a team he loves. He has good self confidence, good body image, he is humble and he is excelling."
